Flue gas desulfurization wastewater treatment system for Power Utilities

Richmond, VA – Infilco Degremont has been awarded a contract bid and negotiated by Parsons E&C, on behalf of Progress Energy, to design and supply a flue gas desulfurization (FGD) wastewater treatment system for Progress Energy’s Asheville Generating Station in Arden, NC. The heart of the design approach for this cutting-edge facility is Degremont’s ability to continually integrate its impressive array of field data, testing and R&D into a performance-driven system design.

“Our team’s outstanding ability to prepare such a comprehensive and competitive design in a very short procurement and scheduled delivery period demonstrates the depth of their experience and attention to detail,” said Marc Hauchecorne, CEO of Infilco Degremont. “The ability to competitively meet the exacting performance and stringent scheduling needs of Parsons E&C and Progress Energy was a key element in our selection of Degremont,” added Jonathan Escott of Parsons E&C.

Infilco Degremont excels in FGD wastewater treatment, with more installations in the U.S. and the world than any other company. Its capability for removal of organics, suspended solids, and heavy metals—combined with the recently issued EPA and state rulings for severe reductions in SO2—provides the electric utility industry a proven tool to meet stringent FGD wastewater effluent requirements resulting from these rulings.

The synergistic ability of Infilco Degremont’s design approach to integrate with state-of-the-art scrubber technologies provides utility customers assurance that complex and varying treatment requirements can be achieved on a long-term basis.

 MultiDisc™ Screen

Circulating crescent-shaped mesh panels, connected at the rear and installed across the channel, are the basis of the new MultiDisc System from Infilco Degremont. Traditional band screens allow contaminated water to flow through their mesh panels twice, resulting in high headloss. The single flow pattern of the MultiDisc Screen greatly reduces headloss.

Maintenance is easy with the MultiDisc Screen. Debris is captured and carried to deck level, where it is efficiently removed by means of a high volume spray system. Unlike band screens, there is no debris carryover to the clean-water side. Individual mesh panels can be readily changed at deck level. Chains are corrosion-resistant and maintenance-free.

Because the MultiDisc Screen is installed within the channel across the direction of the water flow, it requires little space and is ideal for both new and rebuild applications.

  • Compact unit is installed across the channel water flow to save space.
  • High-volume spray system efficiently removes captured debris.
  • Corrosion-resistant chains use maintenance-free rollers for minimal distortion.
  • Unilateral flow pattern reduces headloss and eliminates debris carryover to the clean-water side.

Fits channels up to 50' deep.

ODI 2PAD™ System for Sludge

Two-Phase Anaerobic Digestion for Class A Biosolids

This unique two-phase anaerobic digestion system produces Class A Biosolids, which can be land-applied without restrictions in accordance with the EPA's 40 CFR Part 503 regulations. Our innovative process separates the acid and methane-forming digestion phases (acidogenesis and methanogenesis), increasing the efficiency of both and, combined with the high temperature, destroys the pathogens to below detectable limits. A two-year pilot study confirmed the effectiveness of the ODI 2PAD™ System to meet EPA requirements for Class A Biosolids. In fact, the ODI 2PAD™ System has been granted "PFRP Conditional National Equivalency" by the Environmental Protection Agency, as recommended by the Pathogen Equivalency Committee.

Whether you're retrofitting an existing plant or building a new one, the ODI 2PAD™ System isready to take your sludge to a new class--Class A Biosolids.
